Position Summary

UNO's Criss Library is seeking a Library Services Specialist-Hagel Archivist to manage the U.S. Senator Chuck  Hagel Archives collection, services and personnel.

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday. Hours may vary depending on unit needs & activities, and may be adjusted based on library schedules.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

This is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsible for the management of the U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel Archives collection, services, and personnel. Develops and implements a comprehensive processing plan for the collection. Responsibilities include arrangement and description, access planning, preservation, and promotion of the collection's paper, photographic, audio visual, electronic, artifact, and other material formats. Regularly curates exhibits and assists Archives & Special Collections' researchers with their information needs across the department's holdings. Also responsible for supervision of student workers & volunteers.

Additional Duties

Project planning and management; Contributes to a continuous process of assessment. Participates in the collection and analysis of Archives & Special Collections data;   Participates in the creation and implementation of Archives & Special Collections policies; Participates in department and library planning; Develops and documents processes and procedures; participates in periodic reviews and revisions of processes and procedures as needed; Serves on library and university committees;  Participates in cross-departmental projects within the library; Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties & responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALS: Master's Degree in Library Science (ALA accredited), Archival Studies, History, or related field. Course work and training in archives. Minimum one year of experience working with archival collections. Experience with the arrangement and description of multi-format archival collections. Ability to set and attain goals effectively. Evidence of effective project planning, setting of priorities, and project management. Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with colleagues, the university community, and researchers. Must be flexible and capable of working successfully individually as well as in teams in a changing library environment. Excellent written and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALS: Experience arranging and describing large collections over 100 cubic feet. Experience arranging and describing large modern archival collections. Experience working with political collections. Familiarity with archival management systems and databases for the description and management of collections. Familiarity with best practices and tools for digital collections including born-digital and digitized material for preservation, promotion, and access to collections.
